3D Printers- From Scartch
You have seen various printers in your life , while printing out your paper material. You may have also thought when you were kid that what if we put our hand in the printer and it print out a whole hand ( well at least I thought that). It was unlikely and remained in the imagination at that time. But now, we are in the modern world. And modern world brings modern equipment and technologies, just like 3D printers.
WHAT ARE 3D PRINTERS?
Without going into deep technicalities and hard vocabulary, and to make it easy for a common men to understand, 3D Printers can "print" things just like a machine manufacture a thing. Remember when you go to the shopkeeper to print your things on paper?. Now those things can print or more better to say construct things into 3D form like the objects in our daily life. The mechanism behind all of this magical phenomenon is that it can be done in a variety of processes in which material is deposited, joined or solidified under computer control with material being added together (such as plastics, liquids etc), typically layer by layer. Just like below
TYPES OF 3D PRINTERS
There are various types of 3D printers according to their functionality such as
1) Sterolithograpy(SLA):
Sterolithograpy(SLA) is the original industrial 3D printing process. SLA printers excels at producing parts with high levels of detail, smooth surface finishes, and tight tolerances.2) Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) :
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) melts together nylon-based powders into solid plastic. Since SLS parts are made from real thermoplastic material, they are durable, suitable for functional testing, and can support living hinges and snap-fits.
3)PolyJet:
Polyjet is another plastic 3D printing process, but there’s a twist. It can fabricate parts with multiple properties such as colors and materials. Designers can leverage the technology for prototyping elastomeric or overmolded parts.
3D Printing Considerations:
Like most things in life, there’s rarely a simple answer when selecting a 3D printing process. Most of the vendors usually suggest customers evaluating their 3D printing options, they typically point to five key criteria to determine what technology can meet their needs:
1)Budget
2)Mechanical requirements
3)Cosmetic appearance
4)Material selection
5)Geometry
SOME EXAMPLES :
There are many examples of the products manufactured by 3D printers now a days. Its been quite common for prototyping of different objects. Some of the most common example are below :
1) Homes and Buildings
2) Prosthetic Limbs & Body Parts
That's all from 3D Printing side. I hope you like my first vlog. Your appreciation through comments will encourage me to write more in future with different niches.
